Human No matter how much I kid myself
Am I only ever human?

Another day, another lesson
Book open, head down
Pen scrawling fragments
Of some new equation
Or some sort of device
Everything lost in the concentration.

Occationally,
I look up, like a diver surfacing
And sat there next to me
Another bubble of concenctration
Thoughts start to form
Ideas flowing free
But then, a twang of guilt
One idea floats to the top.

Such an innocent idea
So few words, yet why
Do I force them back down again?

Every Time.

Back to the book,
Head down, pen in hand
Scrawling yet more fragments.

No matter how much I kid myself
Am I only ever human?
